General Rehearsal Locations & Times:

Fusion primarily rehearses through northern and central New Jersey. Full, in-season weekends begin first weekend of November 2025 through WGI World Championships in April.

All in-season rehearsals are mandatory and full attendance is required – no exceptions. Please plan and ensure that any and all personal, instructional, school, work and career-related requirements are clear from conflict every weekend beginning November 2025 through WGI World Championships in April 2026, before you consider auditioning.

A typical rehearsal/camp/design/competition weekend (Butler, NJ / Parsippany, NJ / Metuchen, NJ) schedule can consists of:
Friday Night*: 9:00PM – 11:30PM
Saturday: 10:00am to 10:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

On all three days, you will arrive :30min prior to rehearsal start time for parking and unloading/rehearsal setup.

*Friday night rehearsals are generally reserved for the evenings before camp/design weekends and competitions/regionals. Members will always be notified in advance of any schedule changes.

On some show weekends, there will be times where the guard will rehearse out of New Jersey:

Local Rehearsals: NJ, PA
Regionally:
Dependent on the 2025-2026 schedule.

Auditioning: Our Process

the audition experience

  • The 2026 audition is just like all of our other previous auditions – each person is auditioning for a spot with the 2026 cast – veterans/alumni included. There are NO guaranteed spots for any performer leading into a season.

  • You will begin your day at the registration table, where you will be checked-in by Fusion administration. If you don’t pay the Audition Registration Fee in advance, you can also pay at the door. We accept cash, card, Venmo (@fusionwg), and CashApp ($fusionwg).

  • Audition Registration Fee: $75.00

  • The audition registration fee covers access to the September audition process, including video submissions, and October callbacks (if invited or you’re a Fusion Veteran). The audition fee is the same whether you’re auditioning or attending for experience.

  • You will be distributed an audition number and have a polaroid photo taken of you with your audition number. This photo is used by our evaluators for quick recognition throughout the audition process.

  • You will be evaluated in the following possible scenarios: full ensemble, sections, smaller groups, individual. You also may be asked to demonstrate skills/phrases individually.

  • Our membership for the 2026 season is determined by our instructional, design, and administration team, ensuring all prospective members are evaluated as equally as possible.

  • Don’t be afraid to show your personality! We get a good sense for each other when we are our most authentic selves.

  • Please select the piece of equipment you feel strongest on while participating in sectionals. Be sure to let the technicians / choreographers know if you are also interested in other pieces of equipment that you feel confident with. If we think you’d be better suited auditioning in another section, a technician will make this suggestion.

  • If you have any unexpected skills or talents, or any unique offerings to color guard, feel free to share them with us during the audition weekend.

  • If you cannot attend the September 2026 audition dates live and want to prepare and submit a video audition, please click here to visit our video submission guidelines. (Reminder: you must be able to attend October callbacks if you are selected to move forward.)

audition information

  • Those who haven’t previously marched with Fusion must attend a Saturday audition in person, or submit a video audition. It is not required that you attend both September audition dates, select the Saturday that works best with your schedule. Season contracts/spots will be not offered following the September audition series – final decisions are made the week following Octobers callbacks.

  • Fusion Alumni/Veterans need only to audition during the October callback weekend. If you’re a Fusion veteran interested in auditioning for the 2026 cast, please fill out the veteran interest form at your earliest convenience.

  • All performers selected to advance from Septembers audition series will be required to attend the October callback weekend in-person, including those auditioning by video.

  • Result emails will be delivered within one week of the conclusion of the audition weekend. Please be patient as we sort through the details and ensure accuracy.

    • Result outcomes for September:

      • You’re asked to attend October’s callback alongside veteran members.

      • We thank you for auditioning with us and encourage you to audition again in the future.

    • Result outcome for October:

      • 2026 membership decision/result.

  • Fusion will not be offering personalized feedback after the conclusion of in-person audition events. If you wish to receive personal feedback, please ask questions during the events. E-mails requesting feedback will not be responded to.

  • If you’re interested in attending auditions for experience only, you will receive a sticker to put on your audition tag. Please understand that participants auditioning for a spot will have higher priority than participants only looking for experience.

  • You’re auditioning for a performance spot/membership with Fusion Winter Guard – there is no guarantee that you will be spinning your preferred piece of equipment or exclusively dancing in the upcoming seasons repertoire.

aside from the audition

Before auditioning, make sure you’re as prepared as you can be, and know that its going to be an exciting weekend! We have outlined a few key points that assist in our decision making at Fusion:

  • No money owed to any marching arts organization. We understand the financial burden organizations go through for their productions, and will only consider members who do not have a remaining balance with another team. Fusion Winter Guard will not cast performers with balances owned to other organizations.

  • Having a financial plan already set – you will feel much better knowing you have a way to complete your season dues responsibility. Our 2025-2026 tuition and payment schedule is transparent and public, please plan accordingly. Missed payments/not having a way of paying will lead to termination from Fusion.

  • Commitment to season schedule. While we have some flexibility in the month of October, we cannot accommodate surprise events that result in attendance conflicts. By auditioning for a spot with the 2026 cast, you’re auditioning with the intention and commitment to fully satisfy member duties. View our tentative 2025-2026 season calendar here.

  • We pride ourselves on our optimism, and having a positive approach to the activity. Our culture and qualities are based around support, teamwork, care, education, and growth. We hope that you share similar values and showcase them at auditions!

  • What about DCI auditions that fall on a Fusion-related day/weekend? We require all casted members that want to audition for DCI to opt for video audition assignments. Fusion will not allow in-season absences for DCI auditions.

  • What if you don’t get a callback or a spot? Don’t be discouraged! Auditions are high-level to ensure participants can get as much of a “sense-check” of the seasons demands in a nutshell. Cast spots are limited to a specific amount of performers, and it can be difficult obtaining a spot on your first go-around. Do not give up on your goals, and we hope to see you at a future audition!

Come Prepared:

our equipment exercises

Aside from being educational resources, these tutorial videos showcase our approach to equipment, and what to expect for our warmups. Upon paying for auditions through our store, you will receive an email link that provides you access to these videos.

It is strongly recommended that you learn these warmups prior to attending auditions. While the exercise will be taught and reviewed, time will be limited.

In addition to our ensemble warmups, participants will also continue warmup within their sections; exploring broader technical skills, tosses, small phrases, and more.
