Rob Watson Named to NJ Drum Corps Hall of Fame

Fusion World’s Executive Director, Rob Watson, has been inducted into the New Jersey Drum Corps Hall of Fame.

The HOF Induction Ceremony, held in Avenel, New Jersey on Saturday, October 1, 2022, honors 16 individuals (10 living and 6 posthumous) for their contributions in all aspects of the drum and bugle corps activity within the state of New Jersey.  Of those inducted, Rob marked one of the youngest to be honored in the Hall of Fame’s history.

Rob was the Color Guard Caption Head for DCA’s Fusion Core Drum & Bugle Corps from 2013-2018 & 2021.  Fusion Core’s color guard earned an impressive 51 first place color guard trophies and captured the Drum Corps Associates Best Color Guard trophy in both 2014 and 2018.

Fusion Core’s director Holly Marino shared that “what Rob has contributed to the activity is without question admirable.”

“During Rob’s tenure as caption head, the guard program soared to the top of the class and helped define new standards from the guard caption,” stated Allen Buell, past DCA President.  Buell continued, “I can’t think of a more deserving person who shares his amazing talent, endless love and overall genuine kindness to all involved in the activity.  The world would be a better place with more Rob Watsons in it.”

During the ceremony, Rob will share the honor with the entire Fusion Core Color Guard staff:  Tim McLaughlin, Rodney Thomas, Kerri Newlander, Jackie Yurkin, Carlos Diaz, and Aaron Startzman.  “There is not one person honored among us who changed or disrupted our activity without the tireless work of amazing people at their side.  And if you’re lucky enough to call them friends, then that makes the moment even more magical,” stated Watson.  “I am proud and honored to share this accolade with my my team who have challenged our activity with me.”

Please join the Fusion Winter Guard family in congratulating Rob on this incredible award.
