On March 6, 2018, the Fusion organization received record-breaking news: in less than two years of competing in WGI, the initials FWG were going to stand for something different — Fusion WORLD Guard.
Coming off a successful WGI South Brunswick Regional, where Fusion swept all captions in Independent Open Class, the team went under review. Members of the WGI Advisory Board spent two weeks viewing videos of Fusion’s SoBro performance to decide whether the skills portrayed in the 2018 production, “The Unraveling” had traits competitive with the World Class. Shortly after, the administration received a letter from Dale Powers, Director of WGI on the promotion.
More heartwarming was the overwhelming support and love the Fusion organization received not only from its local circuit teams, but from around the world. Fusion’s Executive Director, Rob Watson shared this sentiment on the group’s Facebook Page.
Thank you to our WGI community for embracing our promotion from Open to World Class. We are both humbled and excited to be considered among the activity’s most elite programs.
The love, support and genuine respect you have shown our cast is more than we could’ve ever imagined. So, on behalf of our staff, our cast and administration, THANK YOU ALL for loving the art we get to put out onto the floor every weekend.
To our Open class family, thank you for the notes of encouragement and to our new World class teammates, thank you for welcoming us with open arms!
We cannot begin to applaud our 27 cast members who have made this historic event a reality for our 2nd year organization. Compassion and love for this activity is an honor we wear with pride. And with all your love and support, we remain committed to sharing “The Unraveling” to the World.
With Love, Fusion!
Fusion’s next WGI performance will be the WGI Power East Regional in Bethlehem, PA.
